how long can a hen be broody safely

Well, she rejected them so she’s not ready but I have to force her out of the coop

Might've been too early, or some hens just don't turn out to be good brooders or good moms despite their hormones.

You will know if she is broody, she will growl and act all puffed up and defensive.I usually wait about 5 days to make a decision on whether to give eggs (3 weeks for slipping chicks under her).

Hopefully you can hatch eggs in the future
