How Long Can A Rooster Wear Breeding Muffs?

Wow, learn something new every day!

I'm curious if they have different sizes or are they adjustable? I would have used those last year on my Blue Andalusian; he left bare hens that are still recovering from his amorous ways....

Concern with using them on a young or bantam roo that may outgrow them; do they have a bit of stretch?

Oh, be aware that if you decide to hatch out any chicks, you will end up with even more roos, so since you dont want to cull your roos, I would suggest not hatching any unless you have a plan for them ;)

(I ended up with 11 roos last year, only 4 pullets out of all my chicks, roo city lol; it was mayhem and had to cull ALL of them)

So we're trying breeding muffs too, and we've had a pair on Erasmus for about 2 weeks. No real problems but his feet STINK! We took them off today and cleaned his spurs and disinfected the area. Purefoysgirl what has been your experience?

@Tweedys Farm ... Not sure @purefoysgirl is still around......can't tag em so I guess not.
Am curious too, tho toenails can cause as much damage as spurs.

I have 29 hens, there are only two he pays attention to. I can't in good conscience get rid of my roos to people I don't know, and no one would take them anyway. Killing them is not an option, I am not a meat eater or a killer. Thank you for your advice, but I would like to get opinions on the muffs themselves and how long to keep them on.
I agree with you. I need an answer for this also. My Pet roosters are fighting so I bought these but have no idea how long to keep them on for. No directions whatso ever. They have been on now over a week with no visible signs of harming them. They seem to not bother them. I worry about their circulation etc.
