How long can a Silkie stay in molt?

Why is her head wet? I would wash her topknot well and blow it dry. Then check her later and see if it looks "wet" again. Could it be that she has a nasal discharge that is getting in her topknot??

Another suggestion is to increase her protein significantly for the next few weeks. Add chopped boiled eggs, tunafish, calf manna, manna pro show conditioner or something like this to her diet for a while.

Ok.. some possibilities: the feathers have just broken off resulting in a smaller crest or she may have mites in her crest. Are you positive she is molting and what "illness" did she have before?

No, no nazel discharge. She likes to dunk her head in the water dish alot. We have a white hen who does this as well. I will deffinetly try the chopped boiled eggs.

We think she has sometime of respitory illness.
