I hatched an emu three weeks ago. I did end up assisting it so I'm thinking it just wasn't strong enough to survive, but the last couple of days it has been getting weaker and I don't think it will last through today. I have never seen it eat or drink. I tried getting it to drink and it did take a little water a few days after hatching. When I took it outside it would pick at grass and weeds, but always seemed to spit them out. I had put a chicken chick in the brooder for company and to teach it how to eat and drink.
I can't imagine it surviving nearly a month without food and water. Last week it seemed strong and healthy running around after the chickens, following the turkey and goat.
I know logically it must have been at least getting water, but I wanted to ask my weird question to those with experience. This was my first attempt with a emu and now I'm simply heartbroken.
