Hello. Posted once before when chicks were all fluff, now they are older and heartier i believe. They are my son’s, a delightful little almost 6 year old. He desperately wants to take them out and hold them, and i want them to be used to people and hopefully imprint on him. How much can he have them out? It is only about 70 in the house. And yes, I know he needs supervision etc. Thank you!

At 70F, baby chicks no longer require heat during the day while they are consuming calories. They can run around the entire house if you wish.

Just caution your son to take things slowly and to watch where he steps in case a chick happens to get underfoot, and not hold them too tightly or he might crush the chick.

The best strategy to bond safely with chicks and have them trust you is to sit quietly on the floor while the chicks explore your lap and legs, and even crawl up onto your shoulders. Careful, gentle handling will not hurt chicks.

He will be so excited to hear that
