How long can chicks go without water?

Hey everyone yesterday at 3 o'clock I left home. I forgot to check on the chicks before I left because I was in a hurry. Well anyway I don't think they had very much and I won't be back until 1 today. I'm freaking out what do I do!

Best to give a holler to a neighbor to go fill the water up.

Chicks, being of small volume, would not last long if it's very warm since they expel body fluid as they breath out, as we do. If your brooder is in a cool place and the chicks are no longer under a heat lamp, they will last longer.

If your chicks are very young and under a heat lamp, and the room is very warm, your chicks could be in trouble very soon. Be prepared to need to treat for shock when you do get home - electrolytes and sugar in the water.
