how long can eggs survive unincubated?

I'm thinking I will order closer to the date and cross my fingers that they get here in time for the hatch date I want. I was just trying to work it out that some chick would have hatched and would be hatching for my sons science fair date (for the oooohs and ahhhhs of the kids). The project will really be about temp and humidity and him candling the eggs sooo I'm sure I will figure it out before then. Maybe its better to set them a week early and have the hatched babies running around in the broader for the fair that too will get oooohs and ahhhs and I can video them hatching and play it on my laptop :). OOooh I think I've found my solution. Would really hate to decrease my hatching rates any lower by having the eggs sit in the house till I'm ready! Wish us luck this will be my first hatch, I usually get day olds!

I just hatched 15 out 15 today. Eggs were given to me 3 weeks old. I told my buddy who brought me the eggs to hatch that they probably would not hatch being so old. But I was wrong. They all hatched

Hello again everyone! Got another chicken question for you: i got some eggs shipped to me, they were sent to me thursday, they were expected to arrive on saturday, saturday i was waiting outside of post office when they opened, they werent there (upon thinking back i was prob a little to eager and they hadnt even made it to my po box yet!) So they sat there sat, sun, and today (monday mlk day) so in the experts opinion are they done for or is there still a possibilty of a successful hatch?

Noticed this thread was 3 weeks old. How did your hatch go?

i tried all i can see is the air sac and a black blob, i have no idea how people get such good pictures of candled eggs i cant even see any definition, i even tried using a spotlight, still no luck
