How long can I hold an egg before I try to hatch it?

I came home today to find the neighbors dog eating my only green egg laying hen. I have two of her eggs but I'm going out of town tomorrow and won't be back until Monday. Can I put them under a broody hen Monday and still hatch them? They were both laid in the last few days.

Yes, you should be able to. Eggs last for at least ten days when stored properly before they start losing their viability. Very sorry you lost your hen
