how long can i wait?????

how long can i wait before putting my chicks in the brooder box. the temp is like 113.4 F right under the light bulb but every where else it is cooler im working on getting it cooler but i think i might be running out of time. i have bobwhite quail and bantam chicks and 4 of them hatched yesterday morning . how much longer can i wait!! or is it alright to go ahead and put them in there since the temp is cooler every where else?/

Move your thermometer around until you find a spot that is 90-95 degrees & put the chicks, feed & water there. Not sure why you're unable to lower the temp by raising the bulb away from the brooder, but I don't know your set-up.........I'd just keep monitoring it to make sure it doesn't get too hot for them.
