It's pouring down rain and cold here, and my GSD is absolutely refusing to go out and go potty! It's now 9:40am, and she hasn't gone since 9 last night. It's now at 12 and a half hours, and in spite of me letting her out every 30 minutes, she won't even go off the porch.
Maybe I should start a betting pool to see just how long she can hold it? LOL
Our pug is like that...she acts like she is being punished when asked to go out in the rain...I mean ears down, tail uncurled, and slinks out and then turns and looks at me like "HOW COULD YOU!?"
One of my doxie's is like that. Apparantly her prior home never "made" her go out in bad weather. It was blizzard conditions here Thursday and it was after 12pm before I could get her to go out. I tried pushing her out and i even went out with her. Tried to "wait her out". She balanced her self on two legs and cried.
Pooh on the other hand, did her business right outside the door and came right back in.
I had a lab mix girl once. I had to stay at a friend's house overnight, and my baby couldn't come with me. She was kind of housebroken, but not totally, though she did do real well. I locked her in the kitchen, with toys and food and newspaper, so she wouldn't be stuck in her crate. It ended up being at least 24 hours that she was by herself. She had gotten out of the kitchen, and I never found any tootsie rolls or wet spots on the floor! So I'm thinking they can hold it a reallllllllly long time, if the situation calls for it!
I also had a golden retriever that refused to go out in the rain. He loved anything to do with water, unless it was falling from the sky! He would hold it forever before he would go!
