How long did she squat before the first egg?

Haha, YES I did, matter of fact... That's hilarious!

Did they get our babies switched? Wonder if its just us, or whether they got a couple of chick batches messed up and there. I thought it was just ME, but maybe there are others scratching their heads.
Looks like you picked up chicks from Bothell Feed around the time I did, in early May? What a laugh...and So Much for labels!

Yup, I got mine on Mother's Day (5/10) but we still probably got ours in the same batch as mine are a little over 19 weeks. That's funny how that mix-up happened; I guess they figured that they weren't able to tell the difference between the two breeds. Still a great place though, I miss that feed store.

ETA: You MUST tell me when your EE starts laying-I'm not sure how many you have but the close up of the one with the muffs (the second to last pic) looks EXACTLY like one of mine! I'm so curious as to what color the eggs will be. It would be HORRIBLE and absolutely devastating if they turned out brown! Sorry the hatchery didn't sex your Australorp right. Good thing it worked out in his favor

And I got all my chicks at BF on 5/2 - except for one (the reddish one with black flecks on its feathers and a black-ish beard & muff). She's a barnyard mutt I got from a private person in Bothell the next day. We're mystified about her - she was the other chipmunk baby. I can't figure out WHAT she is. She was sold to me as a buff brahma and what a laugh, of course you can tell I knew nothing!

Of course! I'll let you know about my EE egg color when she starts laying. Her name is Zsa Zsa. She is my sweet, timid, and curious bird of the flock. She's been extremely curious when the CM/BR sits in the nest and lays eggs. She's gotten her head pecked a few times for getting to nosy - putting her head between "Oreo's" legs to see what was going on. The other day I found her "worshipping" the warm, newly laid egg after Oreo left. Her whole body bowed forward toward the nest, head low, and her beak hovered right above the egg, motionless for a long time. I just watched her and grinned because I think she's prepping to lay soon. I can't wait to see what color she lays.
