How long do chickens molt for and what does it look like?

I had a broody this summer that molted after and there were feathers everywhere all at once! It's kind of startling!
Not to hijack the post ( but a related question!) If I had a broody hen this summer and she molted after, will she molt again this fall? It was kind of a "soft" molt, she didn't lose all her feathers....

I've had some broodies mini molt all year round and not hard molt in the fall, and some DO hard molt in the fall after mini molting all summer long. Each bird is so different. You will find out! :)

They are had on looked horrible she is 2 now then a 3 year old Olive egger she lost on her back but had fuzzy feathers already showing and just kept laying

Chickens can molt at any time in their life. Normally, it is in their second autumn and each autumn thereafter. You will see shed feathers all over the coop and run. The birds will start looking very shabby.

Australorp. It is a combination of the words Australia and Orpington. Australorps were developed in Australia from Orpingtons.
I just learned something! Do you know if they have the temperament of the orps? Ie, docile and sweet?

Soo who wins? polish or buff? In the pecking order...I’ve got both and am just wondering. Polish is older. By 8 weeks

Polish generally end up on the bottom of the pile in a flock of standard breeds. Their crests allow them to stand out as different and end up being picked on. However many Buffs are pretty docile, so this may not be the case. The Buff will probably be above the Polish over time.

This morning I watched my gold laced cochin try to peck my polish on the head and my polish stood up very straight and stared her down. The cochin physically shrunk down in front of her. I was so proud of my polish!!

Yay! If the Polish is older, maybe this will be a bigger advantage! :)
