How long do ducklings need food/water 24/7

I stop giving my ducklings food an water over night once they move out of the brooder into their coop. They are just too messy to have it inside over night so 5-6 weeks.

I collect feed from the big guys run every evening at dusk. Leaving it there or in my coop (which I avoid to keep out extra poo during feeding time as the run is easier to clean) in a big invitation to rodents for me. Maybe even bears for that matter as they are known feed raiders of all kinds.

If I am using a light, (like currently due to the dark ones burning out and having it available) I do leave food and water available all the time for young 'uns. I highly prefer sleeping through the night.

I do like to see what other peeps do though, as that's how I learn and grow. Lot's of good suggestions most the time.

I'm sure you'll figure out what works best for you. It might even change over time. I think my preferred bedding for ducklings was rice hulls. It's been a while since ducklings.
