How long do eggs last after they have been laid?

Great post. I went and read the motherearth article. Some good info in it.

But, I still don't have an idea of how to take care of an egg after it is hatched to make it ready to keep in fridge for future use ( like 2 weeks or so ).

Hmmm

wow and here I have been fussing at everyone to eat more danged eggs because the chickens are laying faster than we can eat and I didn't want any going bad. I guess I can let people eat oatmeal and maybe some cereal now and then again.

After the egg is hatched you really shouldn't put it in the fridge at all...

If you are talking about one that has just been laid, you can just put it straight into the fridge for use later.. if it is dirty just wash it off and use it first..

That was a really interesting article. Thaks for sharing it. I remember my mom telling me about going to the fruit cellar to get water glassed eggs. I guess to reach into there and grab an egg was a real creepy feeling.
