I'm in the process of hatching chicks for the first time! I put the eggs in this morning, and added some water to the incubator and then left for the afternoon. I just checked it and the temp is good (96.5) but humidity was only 47%. I just added a wet paper towel, and it's already up to 54%. I'm just wondering if the eggs will be ok, or if I should switch them out when I get the humidity stabilized? These eggs were all laid within the last 5 days, so they are relatively fresh.

That temp is actually not good - you need it to be 99.5, not 96.5. 96.5 is very low. Is your incubator still air or forced air?

Depending on where you are and your type of incubator, that humidity is too high, too. For me, I need it to be around 30% for the first 18 days.

What is the temp and RH every one uses in a incubator like brinasea ovoation 28ex. Yes it has a fan.
Temp and RH for first 18 days
Temp and RH for hatching?

Thanks
Scott

I use a Brinsea too. The temperature should be 99.5 F the entire time. The humidity I use is 30% for the first 18 days and 65%+ for lockdown.

Ok great I need to recheck my temp. Have I g a late hatch and although temps rock solid 99.5-99.6 I'm not sure it's right.
Thanks Scott
