- Based on what you have just told me about the whole pecking order thing, she might be able to fend for herself, but just in case, I would put her in the coop a few times a day with supervision so the others can get used to seeing her and being around her. Mostly keep her inside though. I would suggest putting her in full-time when you feel most comfortable with it.It definitely helped me get some perspective. If I try to put her with the flock now I'm pretty sure they're going to gang up on her. So I think I'm going to give it several more days at least, with maybe limited supervised interactions like I did today. Then maybe next weekend I'll sneak her on the roost and cross my fingers.
It's just so sad! Chickens have such tiny little brains! My dogs can recognize people they haven't seen in years, but my chickens can't remember someone they knew last week!
