how long do king worms live for from the pet store and how old do ducklings have to be before they can eat them

They can live a long time if you keep fresh carrots and feed in their box. Kingworms bite, so when I feed them to small birds I squish their heads. Not sure if one must, but I feel better knowing they're dead.
