Our chicks are 10 weeks old, mother hen still hangs out with them and leads them to treats. This is her 3rd batch of chicks and these are certainly needy, but how long will she put up with their constant cheeping? They all go into the coop and roost next to all the other chickens at night. All of our chickens free range. We have 2 feeders in the coop, one outside, 2 waterers for 11 hens and 4 "teens" so that the teens can get to food without being chased away.

I have a little cockerel who hatched July 9th and she will still cluck to him on occasion! They roosted in the nest box up until one month ago and then she finally brought him up on the perch. He was the only one left as all his hatch mates found homes, so I think she really babies him

She still accepts these under her wing at night if they get stuck outside even though they are obviously all feathered out! Kinda funny. She's a great mom too but holy cow, cut the cord already!
