My penedesenca eggs just arrived. I bought 12 but got 16 w/o any breakages, I'm so excited. When can they go into the incubator?

Another member we just met today gave us 6 Bantam eggs and we made a makeshift incubator and put them in already. Don't know anything about waiting. I would think you should put them in now. Can anyone tell what what is the ideal temp and humidity?

Why do they need to rest???

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am new to this.

Mine were just brought over from about a mile away. Will it hurt to incubate them right away?

These went from nest to here and are already in the incubator so we shall see what happens.

Alotta sites actually suggest ~24 hours. It's a good idea, whether 12 or 24. I got mine, then put them in an hour later. Definately not enuff time. The problem with shipped eggs, is that their air cells have a tendency to become misshappen. Which is what the rest period is for. So it can even out the air cells. I had the misshapen air cell problem during my incubation. It worried me a bit. Next time I'll wait that 24 hours, lol.
