How long do stores keep their eggs ???

Hey guys my name is Lindsay and im working on an Agriscience fair project for FFA and I was wandering If anyone knows how long store keep their eggs before they cant sell them any more .

Pick up any egg carton, and it will have a sell by date, as well as the date it was packed. That should give you a good idea. The packing date is hidden in a lengthy numerical code under the sell by date. I checked a box dated for sell by March 15. The number under that date, in among the rest of the numbers was 030 which was the 30th day of the year, or Jan 30. So, that gives about 6 weeks from packing to last sale date.
