Personally, I agree. I don't think I've ever left a chick in the bator longer than 12 hours and that was because it was hatched at night. I know that within a couple hours, (pretty much as soon as they find their feet and are up and running) mine are pecking at the crumbles, bedding and anything else they can...lolWhile they CAN live for that long, it would be far beyond my personal comfort level.
I mean, my chicks are only 1-2 days old and they've already been making a tremendous mess of their starter feed, and eating a lot. Obviously they didn't realize they weren't supposed to be hungry yet...
I look at it the same way, they can, doesn't mean they should. I mean we can go how many days w/o eating and still live?? Doesn't mean I want to test the theory.
