How long does a broody need to sit before....

I want some add some babies to my flock. I have a broody sitting and I plan to stick some babies under her and let her take care of them for me. How long does she need to set before she will be receptive to chicks?

Me too. Is 8-10 days setting long enough if she has been puffed up longer than that? I could give her newly hatched ones.
