how long does a chick rest in the egg after a pip?

I have a duck egg and It's been quite awhile since I've heard chirping from inside the egg. I candled it and then chick didn't seem to be moving or doing anything so I was wondering If I should wait more. It's been about more than a day and I have no idea if the egg is dead. Right now the egg is at day 32.

i'm not sure. Eggs were left by a mother duck.

All I can remember was the color of the duck was brown.

Where did you find the nest? Some ducks have longer incubation periods than others, and knowing what breed they are will determine whether it's time to assist or not. Can you remember anything else?

The mother duck didn't build a nest for the eggs. They were actually found on my my dock. If it helps though I live in South Carolina.
