How long does a hen stay fertilized?

    My favorite rooster died two weeks ago. I was very sad because I was hoping to mate him with two of my girls. Is their still a chance that they could lay his baby's? He did hop on them alot before he passed.

    I think they stay fertile up to 10 days, just a guess but I thought I've heard that before. Sorry for your Roo.

    Up to 15 or even 20 days, but this depends on soooooo much, it is hard to generalize.

    If you have some of the eggs from a week ago still in the fridge? Those are the ones I'd try to hatch, as you'd likely have the best result. Hope it works for you.

    3 wks to 5 wks depending, but the good rule of thumb is 3 wks for sure. start collecting and hatch away.
