I haven't had any chickens molt yet and am wondering:

    1. How long does a molt take?
    2. How long does the chicken stop laying?

    Thanks!

I did a search on your first Q. and I thought this was a good answer
( I was wanting to know too... [IMG] )

They will moult when they are ready, often the first year one is so light you don't see it, but second year they will likely have a molt you can see easily. Don't worry about it, it will happen when it happens. Anywhere between sept and Feb... or when they feel like.

Lasts a couple months and they stop laying till the molting is done.Every year they age it becomes more difficult and longer. It's very stressful for them.Just make them as comfortable as possible xtra treats always helps:)
