Mama to you and your little one... I know what the worrry is doing to you. My boy had croup three times as a young child (he is now 13)... but he was in hospital with it... the last time was so severe I thought we would lose him.... but thankfully he recovered, however even now if he gets a cold and it gets on his chest the "bark" is back and he really becomes ill with a chest infection, he knows he must keep his chest warm in the winter I always make him wear a scarf....all the advice given by the other posters is sound advice... Just as importantly you must also try and get some rest so that you are able to nurse him.....
Will keep you both in my prayrs and I hope he recovers speedily.....
:/My son had croup when he was little. He had several bouts of it and when we took him outside to the car, to go to the ER the cool air cleared it up! Doc's gave him some meds though just in case it started up again.
When I took him to the ER, the night air did not help at all. He seems to be doing better now. He is playing and eating and drinking lots of fluids. He seems to be thirstier than usual. The only thing that scares me is his breathing. It is loud, and he seems to be breathing shallowly and faster than usual. That is what scares me. If it wasn't for that, I would not even be worried. The steroids they gave him Friday morning probably wore off now, and I am worried they should have given me a prescription for more.
