How long does it take a broody to lay after she hatches chicks?

Mine hatched about 4 weeks ago.

I read somewhere about 4 weeks, so she should begin laying again any time now.

Has she stopped mothering the chicks? Or did she raise them? Mine never started til maybe a week after they "kicked the kids out" -- the mama would go back to the roost, leave the chicks to sleep alone, even peck them a little to make them not hang around her.
