How long does it take a chicken to start laying again after you move?

I'm posting this because I now have an answer:

I moved three 1 yr old chickens that were laying. Their new home was a big improvement over the old. The first resumed laying 1 1/2 weeks after arrival. The second took a month. The third took 6 weeks. So the answer is, it depends on the chicken. Good luck if you're playing the waiting game.

I have had a new hen for a couple of weeks now. She has been very sporadic. Every few days she lays one beautiful, huge green egg... but only 3 so far. I am hoping it is the stress of a new place.

Thoughts anyone?

LOL So I could stillh ave a long wait for that first egg! I got a laying hen from another BYC member - I've had her for just about 2 weeks and haven't seen an egg yet. Beginning to wonder if we'll have eggs from the babies (13 weeks are the oldest) first!

Just waiting and checking on her a few times a day!
