On of our little bantams had poo stuck to his butt covering everything and it room quite a few minutes of soaking and gently wiping to get it off and he could finally poo again. Now he is drying inside a dry washcloth inside my shirt. He is drying though he's still not very active he's let out a couple chirps but has no interest in food. Mostly seems tired. Does he need more heat to liven him back up? How long will it be until he is dry and I can put him back in with his chick flock?

I gently dry them with a blow dryer on low heat and put them right back---only takes minutes.

We tried that but it only seemed to freak him and our dogs out.... my dogs are currently in the other room and aren't very happy that my "top" is chirping... I worry if they start barking again they'll scare the poor baby to death...

If you've a heat lamp in brooder just put the chick under it. I've had to clean many a chicks and always just put them right under the lamp in brooder when done.

Don't worry about the chick---be gentle----you just move you and the chick out or the dogs out, or just let it stay wet---better keep it warm put it under the lamp..

Around our place we'll leave the chicks in the incubator for about 12 hours to make sure they're nice and dry and fluffy, then we put them in the brooder
