How long does it take for an "egg cycle"?

We have some 20 week old Ameracunas and Golden laced Wyndottes and they haven't started laying yet. We just built a new coop for them last week, and read that it might put them back a laying cycle and I didn't know what that meant.

I don't know what that means, exactly, but a change--any change, can set you laying off some. One person on here said her hens stop laying for a couple days every time she changes their litter--that would drive me bonkers. Often when you switch homes or anything big like that, the birds will go on strike for a week or two--or even more. On the other hand, we acquired a red sex link this summer and she started laying for us less than two days later, so you never know how they are going to react.

Also, from what I've heard, Ameracaunas are typically very late to lay--like thirty weeks or more, so don't despair if you don't have any colored eggs popping out before Christmas. lol
