How long does it take for ivermectin to work?

I have a Polish hen with scaly leg and face mites, and I treated her with ivermectin pour-on (4 drops on the back of her neck) yesterday...I'm wondering how long it takes to kill the mites? She has scratched herself bloody on the head, and I need to take care of it ASAP. Thanks in advance!

Ivermectin pour on is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. Mites should start dying shortly after it was introduced. It may take longer for scaly leg mites. I recommend Nu-Stock slathered on their legs/feet and on their roost as well. I forgot to add that as far as the scratches on her head, clean them as best as you can and put neosporin ointment on it. The neosporin will prevent bacterial infection and smother the mites.
