How long does it take for the soil to replenish itself?

I mulch mine with fallen leaves in the fall, then bury them in the spring before I plant, along with used tea leaves and ground up Easter egg shells. I’ve tried burying other things too, but that’s been sporadic enough I can’t tell how much it helped, only that I’m pretty sure it didn’t hurt.
