How long does it take the egg to come out once they go in nest box?

My cuckoo maran laid her first egg. She was making weird noises standing near nesting box. I want her to lay in nest - have golf balls in and it worked with some others though I have found two in the run-not sure who laid those. I picked her up and put in box. //she seemed like she was in a daze. She sat with her head down rump way in the air. It was about 15 minutes and she laid the egg. She sat dazed about 5 minutes bawking the egg song louder and louder. She finally hopped out and went for water. Is it possible they don't have a clue what's happening?

Sometimes mine will be in there for over 30 minutes. I even have one that stays on the nest AFTER she lays her egg (like 2+ hours), but I think she's thinking about going broody.

Some two seconds and some two hours! And some can't hang on and lay on the floor.

I've had them sit for over three hours before they lay the egg. I had a hen playing musical nestboxes this afternoon. She sat in every box for at least 15 minutes before she got up, left the coop, went back in and laid in the box she had started in.
