How Long Does It Take To Build A Coop For 8 Chickens?

Took us about 6 weeks to build a 4 x 8 coop. But my dh works 6 out of 8 days then is off for 6 days. So we could only work on it every other weekend. Then we went on vacation to Cabo again (see my avatar) for a week. What speeded the build was telling him - I have committed to buying 6 pullets from HorsefeathersNV and I am picking them up on Friday! The coop was done and waiting for the pullets on Thursday! This was done with help from me and my dh's friend.

It just needs some accessorizing!

Wow, now that I think about it I should make it bigger! I will probably get the chicken "fever" AND I will probably get some chicks because I will get a Roo' for sure and 7 hens.

It all depends on your design and your organizational skills.
Your prep work
Tools ready to go

If you delegate the jobs so each person knows what to do.

I sit on the chair and direct and my hubby does all the work - Soooo Kidding!

I built my two coops. For the first one, I spent 3-4 hours cutting and labeling all the pieces first.
Then the next day, I spent about 6 hours assembling the coop alone.

Next coop I built, I cut the wood and then I had my daughter do all the pilot holes as we (husband, son and me) worked on each part.
together we knocked that sucker out in about 3 hours. Everyone had a job. It was great. Lots of fun too!

Hee hee....depends on who's working and who's supervising!

If DH is working and I'm supervising....it doesn't get done. I'm a bad supervisor and get mad, so he gets mad and quits on me.

If DH is supervising, and I'm working...we can frame in a wall in about an hour, and I think it took me about 6 hours to finish all the modifications on our shed turned into coop. He's a good supervisor, and I tend to take direction pretty well
