Congrats on the egg and that is a beautiful photo of your daughter and 1st egg. Definitely have the photo framed and blow the egg out to save the shell!

my bo will sit on the nest for a few hours sometimes before she lays, but she usually lays in the late afternoon so she might go in early to get out of the heat before she lays.

Yes. It is ABNORMAL for a hen to lay MORE than one egg a day.

No. That's why I said it was abnormal for a hen to lay MORE than one egg a day. Rather unusual.
Therefore, your hen is perfectly normal in her egg-laying.
