How long is fresh chicken good in the fridge?

We are doing our first meat birds this year .. Finding a lot of different information of keep time. After they are slaughtered how long are they good for to keep as fresh before I should freeze them? Thanks !!
When I butcher I rest them in a brine for at least 48 hours, then cook. It's been up to 4 days and the meat was still fine.

A full week might be pushing it. Go by smell. If it's going to be longer than 4-5 days I'd freeze them.
I too rest anything I butcher in a mild salt brine for 48 or so.... I normally do a lot at once and vac-seal it all in meal size bags for the freezer.... Good luck, Bill
