First time hatching, got 2 chicks trying to hatch out. They both pipped about 11 lastnite,it's 6 now and they have'nt gotten very far. I'm feeling one maybe stuck to the shell or membrane,he's got the top part undone but,it's peeping and pushing and just seems stuck in there. The other has only made a tiny bit of progress,it's hole is maybe an inch or so.I have both resevors full but may need more? The first 3 got out pretty quick, now it's over 16 hrs.I don't want to lose them but,I don't want to hurt them either. When should I help? Does it need more water in there?

Maybe the membrane dried out and a little mist of water might help? Check the one that is zipped all the way by gently pushing up on the top of the shell and see if you can tell if it's being held by membrane or actually stuck to the chick.

So I pulled them out and added water in their shell to get them wet.
I think they're to dry,we need a real hydrometer.I've got some Sultan eggs waiting to go next this was our first try.Now I'm wondering how will long to wait on the ones that have'nt pipped at all? I don't know exactly how many got this far. I was gonna candle on Saturdaynight but they started to hatch so I did'nt.Is it to late to candle the others, out of 12 we have 3 in brooder and the 2 still hatching.I know shipping can also effect them and Is a flashlight brite enough to candle with.I can't wait until our other birds are old enough to do this for me!! Though it is pretty neat!;)Thanks!
