How long is too long for molting?

I give them extra protein too. Things like yogurt with eggshells, eggs etc. I will occasionally sneak some cat food out there as well.

I see you are in the South. Do you get 0 eggs in the winter?
They stopped in the middle of summer, not a slow down, a stop during the longest periods of the day. Maybe it's the heat of Florida.

It depends on the breed. Orientals typically lay in the Winter and that is what I keep most of. Games on the other hand typically don't start laying until around March (sometimes earlier but not often): thus, Nov-Feb is when we get Oriental eggs while other breeds like the Games supply us with eggs at other times. I seldom get an egg during our summer months.

Back to the original question:
Are early and long time molters going to be bad layers overall?

What's your experience?
