UNTIL THEY'RE DONE ALL THE WAY THRU

SORRY I ESCAPED AGAIN...
SERIOUSLY THO MOST FOLKS DURING WARMER MONTH ARE ABLE TO WEAN THEM DOWN TO AMBIENT TEMPS IN 3 TO 4 WKS OR SO... OBVIOUSLY IF ITS WARM OUTSIDE THEY ARE GOOD TO GO MUCH FASTER THAN IF IT'S SNOWING

3 to 4 weeks?!?! man have i been screwing up lolha... they get it till they've got a good crop of feathers for us. then it starts to come off. if they complain (chirp) or bunch up or anything like that to say they are cold they get it back but usually they act like they don't notice... But I was winging it! go with the experts.

Its hot here mine haven't had heat since one week old.They were moved out of the brooder at one week.

Generally speaking, most folks I know brood coturnix inside (IN A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT) for 3-4 weeks (WHEN THEY ARE FULLY FEATHERED) then put them outside. If your daytime high 105 and nighttime temp is 98, then you can put them out long before the 3-4 week fully feathered rule. It's still a good rule though

The key here is feathers verses down. Feathers are more resistant to temp. changes, and down expects a more constant temp..

Guess, you better get busy. I was only planning on hatching maybe 40. I had built another pen a grow out pen that I was gonna use for more Bob's. Wrong. I ended up hatching 61 out of 70 now my extra pen is being used for the coturnix that I didn't expect to hatch. So, now I'll have to build another. Guess, It never ends. I said it before I need to buy the Astrodome & convert it into a big arse Aviary & be done with it.
