how long should chicks be up for?

Ah. I always use a red bulb. White might cause problems.

Mine sleep off and on during the day, I just switched to an infared reptile light, since it's warm in the house....

The light doesn't bother mine, they sleep right through it. They need constant heat and I don't think 75 watt is enough...

I have two 250 watt red heat lamps going all the time since my brooder is in the basement and it's still chilly down there. They do not keep them up one bit. Even if I put on the normal lights when I walk down stairs...if I stay quiet and don't hit their brooder, they will stay asleep....won't budge!

well i have a seperate heater... i use a gas heater because i raise between 200-250 chicks every batch. I guess ill turn off the lights for them because sleep is important for growth.
