How Long Should I Keep My Breeds Separated?

All my chickens are together right now but I'd like to separate a few of the different kinds (BR, EE for instance) and then hatch some of the eggs. How long do I need to keep them separated before I can be reasonably sure what babies I'll get?

It takes a hen about 3 weeks to clean out from matings. Seperate out the hens you want to hatch eggs from for 3 weeks. At that point you can be assured that the eggs she will produce are from the rooster you have chosen to mate her.
