I am such a proud mama of 23 Buff Orphington chicks in California 1st chick broke open yesterday at 10:00 am on day 20 and all others within 24 hours. I have 2 left with no pipping going on but they are alive via candling. My Hovabator 2370 is keeping humidity high 85 with everyone hatching. Temp is 99.5
I see some panting like their warm. Do I wait until tomorrow day 22 to take out chicks and leave the two in there to see if they start pipping tomorrow? Not sure what to do?

85% humidity is awfully high, they are probably panting because they are drowning!!

I always take the hatched chicks out after 24 hours and put them in my brooder. Leave the two and see what happens. The humidity is high at 85, it should be more like 75. Also, just so you know it's spelled Orpington. Good Luck on the last two! :hugs

Ah yes misspelled Orpington! Ok I moved the 23 into a brooder and left the other two in the incubator. I managed to lower the humidity to 78. One has begun pipping but the other has no pipping. When I candled it yesterday the air cell did not look normal. It looked half way but it was moving with a heartbeat. How long can I keep it in the incubator? Today is day 21

I've only had one experience when an egg didn't hatch, and it was obviously dead. I know others have left eggs that still look viable in the incubator for up to 25-26 days. I'd just wait and see what happens, it can't hurt! That's still a great hatch rate, 24 out of 25!! :ya

Congrats for the chicks :celebrate :love
This is good advice! # 24 hatched this afternoon. Now waiting on # 25 no pipping and saddle air cell. Thank you!

# 24 has been transferred to the brooder . I did end up losing # 25 overnight when the humidity went too high 85%☹️. Overall i think I did pretty good for the first time for 24 out of 25 to hatch.
