Marshmallow is completely feathered out, she has no comb yet, but a tiny little red spot for a waddle........ we got her from a friend and we want to know when she'll start laying

What breed is she? Sounds to me like she's around 8 weeks old. Usually chickens start laying between 18 and 24 weeks, depending on the breed.
Perhaps you can post a picture of your bird and we can get a better idea of what it is you are seeing and give you a better estimate on age, breed, expected time range for laying, etc -- you say she is "a lot older than two months", do you know how old she is?

So she's around 3 months old - and may start laying anywhere from 4-6 months, or longer.....again, depending on breed. The short answer is, she'll begin laying when she is ready.she hatched in march/april
