How long tell coternix quail start laying.

My quail just started crowing thursday. How much longer should it be tell they start laying.

It always depends on several factors.

My last hatch was early mature ... first crowing with 3.5 weeks, first eggs with 5.5 weeks.

Mine turned 5weeks the same day they started crowing.

most of the time they start laying at 6-7 weeks

Mine didn’t start laying until about 8 weeks, the last to start laying was like 11 or 12 weeks.

Speed up maturity by extending day with artificial light. 16 hours of light and mine starts laying by week five/six. No free lunch though, this may shorten lifespan and/or lessen potential mature weight.
