We have two female aussies and they go into heat every 6 to 6 1/2 months so if you take away the 63 days of pregnancy its 4 to 4 1/2 months after litter is born.

In this case yes. I have a silky terrier that goes into heat every six months. You can set your watch by that girl. Yet again, age and size of dog can have an impact.

Indeed. When I was very young I was flattered into breeding my amazing and wonderful male Golden retriever once. I later had him evaluated by a show judge and who kindly but honestly pointed out his bad elbows and other structural flaws that made him physically a terrible representative of his breed. I had him neutered immediately but the damage was done. I got two of the owners of his three puppies to spay and neuter, but the third just bred happily and indiscriminately and made lots of money breeding these faulty puppies. She didn't care, she was all about greed. Broke my heart. I will never breed again.
