How long till eggs get bigger

my hens are starting to lay and one of them has been laying for a 3 weeks and i was wondering when they will quit being pee wee and starting turning into large.

Same question for me - my Australorps are starting to lay but they are really small. When will they be normal sized?

I got my first three eggs and they are small also. Ive been reading on here that they will get bigger and as the hens grow more so will the eggs. Some have one small egg and then right away start laying larger ones. Here is a picture of my first 3 eggs and then i got the next one and as you can see it is alot larger.

The hen that gave me the little mint green egg gave me a bigger light green egg her second time around.

I have 2 Buff Orpingtons and 2 Black Australorps. Got them as babies Feb. 14th. They have been laying eggs for about a month now but the eggs are really little. Will they get bigger? When I got them at the feed store they assured me they would lay large eggs. I'm a little dissapointed???

It is true that The eggs will get bigger as the chickens get bigger.....HOWEVER......don't discount or be discouraged with small eggs right now. I remember the smaller eggs being so much richer in flavor...it seemed to me that the yolks were a bigger ratio to the whites and therefore, much more tasty.

Also, keep in mind that the chickens are small now, and their egg vent opening is in proportion to their body size. I would think young hens ones would be in danger if they laid big eggs now. More experienced on this site may weigh in on this.

Easy for me to say be patient, but be patient. Savor the eggs you have. It just takes more to make an omelet.

Definatly not getting rid of the girls. And yes the yolks seem bigger than the white part. They are delicious! Just waiting for the BIG ones. They just started on the laying pelets. Where in CA are you from. I'm in Sacramento.
