My chickens hatched the day after christmas, and i'm starting to wonder when i will be able to get eggs from them... also, they don't seem to be going into the coop like they should, they seem to like outside better. How do i get them to nest in the nesting box's??

  2. It is aprox 5-6 months so sometime maybe in the next couple of weeks. It is usually around week 22.

most say about 22 weeks but it all depends on the food you give them what kind of chicken it is and how comfortible there living space is

  4. Yep that would be my guess too! My RIRs didnt lay until they were about 5-6 months old so it shouldnt be to long now.

I've had RIRs, BRs, and Araucanas and they never lay until week 26. My aras are 27 or 28 weeks and only 1 has started! I seem to always have late bloomers. [IMG] But I guess the pullets I had over the winter, so they couldn't lay until the days were 14 hrs, so that was probably why (we are in MI)
