How long to be laying?

Our oldest hen is about 2 years old a BO. How much longer can I expect her to lay?

She may quit soon or this year, or she may continue for several years. At some point she will slow down, not lay as many in a week, but they will be larger eggs. Hard to say, they vary so much. It should change after the next molt. I have a few that are 4 years who are still laying almost daily.

I have a couple bantams that are on year 3 and still laying daily for the most part.

I've got some 4 year olds that were still laying daily as 3 year olds. As 4 year olds I'm getting an egg from about 75% of them a day. You just have to wait and see how she does. Every chicken is an individual. Most just slow down over time. They can lay for many years, just not as much when they get older. I think one member had a 12 year old that occasionally laid an egg.
