How long to feed medicated?

My girls are 14 days old today and I have a 50lb bag of medicated feed that I bought for them when I got them (at 6 days old). I have 6 and it seems like they are not going through it like I thought they would. How long are you supposed to feed them the medicated food?

I dont want to have to throw it out but I dont want to give it to them if they dont need it.

I fed mine medicated feed until they were around six to eight weeks old. It's important to keep them on it until they've been exposed to the soil, so they can fight off the coccidiosis effectively. I'm not sure what brand of food you have, but most of them have a 'plan' you can view that should give you some idea of when to stop.

I started mixing my medicated with grower pellets when they were around six weeks old, and just fed them that mix until the medicated food was gone.

hubby got me 3 chicks today... I had a 5.00 coupon off 2 25 lb bags of chick starter or 1 50 lb bag.. I got the 2 25 lb bags.. I may have it coming out my ears. I can't feed it to my ducks.

I fed it until it ran out if they are old enough and have been outside. If they were still inside or not old enough, then I would get another bag and that bag would continue being their food until both housing and age was right. No point in wasting it, a week or two longer on it won't mess them up...Though now-a-days, I do not buy medicated. I get starter/grower and not worry.

Initially, we use the Purina starter Grower Medicated until it is gone. You can feed it up to 18 weeks or laying. I use a whole bag rather than leave it unused. I am not going to use an opened bag a year from now. So I use it or lose it. Agree, I keep them on it until they have been outside awhile.

Yup,. use it til it's gone. I believe a little research will indicate you can also feed it to ducks, as long as the medication is amprolium. Years ago, whatever they put in chicken feed would harm ducks.
