How long to keep pecked chicks separate?

Two mornings ago I went to check my three week old chicks and four of them had been pecked through the night. There were some red spots on face and some slight injuries to their combs. I separated them right away and treated them with the purple stuff from a feed store they recomended. They are doing very well and acting normal. During the day I am putting them out beside the other pen where the rest of the chicks are housed and at night I am bringing them in as they don't have a heat source and need to keep warm. How much longer should I keep them separate and how long does it take for the coloring to wear off. I don't want to put them back in and have them injured again but I don't want to keep them separated for too long.

Thanks for you help!

The coloring doesn't wear off unfortunately. But as for "when" I'd say after a week, and then try it - watch them carefully. Maybe on a weekend when you can check them a few times in the day.

Good luck - I hope they integrate well.

I put them back in actually later that day and they are doing just fine. No one has had any more problems. Not sure why it happened just that one night.
Thanks
